Jammu women, JKP men emerge Volleyball Champions

Jammu District women and J&K Police men today lifted the title trophies of the 37th UT Senior Volleyball Championship,which was organised by Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) at MA Stadium,here.

In the women’s title clash, Jammu outplayed district Udhampur

3-1 (22-25, 25-11, 25-2025-17). In men’s final, Jammu district could not resist much to the J&K Police and lost the all important game 1-3. The score: 23-25, 26-24, 25-20,25-12.

In the finals and valedictory function, Commissioner Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports, Yasha Mudgal  was the chief guest, who felicitated the winners and runners-up teams with title trophies and other individual prizes.

Speaking on the occasion,the chief guest underlined the importance of sports for overall development of youth in Nation building.  She also exhorted the youth of J&K to lead the society in eradicating the socialevils including drug.

Among those prominent present were patron VAJK, Raj Daluja; president VAJK, Sidharth Daluja; former member J&K Sports Council, Rajeev Sharma; Shafkat Watali (retired IGP) and Divisional Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council (JKSC), Iqbal Singh.

The event was supported by J&K Excise Department, J&K Bank, NHPC, Chenab Valley Power Project Ltd,LIC of India, YES Bank, State Times and JK Public School.

Earlier, the distinguished guests welcomed by general secretary of the Association, V K Magrota. He said that the event took place in coordination with the J&K Sports Council and expressed gratitude to the members of the organising committee and support staff.
